    Well, I would be curious to know where exactly you’re studying. It occurs to me also, now that I know you’re a law student, that this issue of rights we briefly discussed on the-antisocialist.com is more vital than ever before. Tell me: do you believe that the rights of the individual are the final standard of justice?

    I am not sure how to answer that question, but I would say that in general, after a year of law school, there is no such a thing as a final standard of justice. (rights or otherwise)

    Does that mean you don’t believe true justice is possible? Does it mean that you don’t believe justice exists at all? I’m only asking out of curiosity.

    Also out of curiosity, what part of the world are you in?

    Depends what you mean by true. If you mean that as a binary thing, no I don’t think we can get some kind of absolute, exact, precise justice.

    Still that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t attempt to get a more accurate justice, but at the end of the day it will never be perfect.

    Just like you said in your piece, rights only exist cause we don’t live on an island. And since we don’t live on an island, we have to reconcile your rights against my rights.

    You will make a good ambulance chaser and drunken driver defense lawyer. You have no judgement of right or wrong.

    Mick,

    I am not sure how you conclude I have no judgement of right or wrong. In any event, I don’t plan to be an ambulance chaser (even a good one). I don’t really want to get into litigation.

    The topics that interest me are more in the corporate side (corporate law, securitization, etc.). Not sure if judgement is needed there though…
