Geert Wilders for his freedom of expression but against ours?

Some of the blogosphere is going nuts over the new video from Geert Wilders. Michelle is boldly declaring she will not submit, the crowd is going wild, etc.

Prepare for more March Madness. I don’t know what “solidarity” is in Dutch, but show it by embedding the video, e-mailing it, and writing about it. Their fight for the right to criticize the Religion of Perpetual Outrage is our fight.

Lan astaslem:

Of course next to the “Religion of Perpetual Outrage” there seems to be the group of people with the “Religion of Mountain out of a Molehill”, but let’s not go there.

One thing worth nothing. It seems that Wilders has called for a ban on the Koran. I found this quite amusing. While Michelle and Co. are all up in arms supporting Geert’s freedom of speech, he is there asking for the Koran to be banned, therefore stifling everybody’s freedom of speech.

  • I catch the cut of your jibe, but I don’t think you can conflate Michelle and company’s support of Fitna with Geert’s call to ban the Koran. I don’t think you have to endorse everything a person says to agree with some of what that person says.

  • No, but I think we see Geerts as fighting for a broader freedom of expression, when in reality his view of freedom of expression is a bit narrower.
